Me and V Reunited for the first time since "then"
Me and this man spent the better part of six years walking hell together. The violence, bloodshed, suffering and depravity we witnessed over that time was always punctuated with poignant conversations about the meaning of life, why we’re here, and who is God. Looking for positives even while bearing witness to the worst the human race has to offer.
The last time we saw each other, I was helping him change his gunshot wound dressing after he caught a 45 round at point blank range to the lower abdomen. We lost touch shortly thereafter and for quite some time neither of us knew what had become of the other.
Yesterday we reconnected for the first time in years, picked up our last conversation like we’d never missed a beat, and we’re getting to work making South Memphis a better place—now that we’re both in a better place.
